India does not have mandatory safety measures for cars sold in the country, but car manufacturers try to pack in the basic features available. Dual front airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brake Distribution are some of the features that manufacturers have started including as standard even in the budget segment vehicles.

Tata Nexon

Tata Motors stunned everyone when they set a competitive pricing for  its sub 4-meter compact SUV, the Tata Nexon, last year. The Nexon comes in both petrol and diesel variants and offers safety features like ABS, EBD and dual front airbags across all options. The car has gained momentum in the market and has received great acceptance by the buyers.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno

Toyota Etios Liva

Price: Rs. 5.64 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi

With looks that are sure to turn heads on the road, the Toyota Etios Liva is an entry-level vehicle from the Japanese car manufacturer. The hatchback gets ABS, EBD and dual front airbags as started across all variants. In fact, Toyota was the first automobile manufacturer to introduce standard safety features as a part of all variants, in India.

Mahindra KUV 100 NXT

KUV 100 NXT, the facelift version of KUV 100, was launched last year by Mahindra. The car now offers the 6-seater version as standard, while the 5-seater variant can be procured on order. KUV 100 NXT is the cheapest offering from Mahindra with ABS+EBD and dual airbags. The ‘plus’ variants of the car come equipped with dual airbags, while the other variants get ABS and EBD.

Maruti Ignis

Price: Rs. 4.59 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi

The Ignis was launched with much fan-fare by Maruti Suzuki from it’s Nexa channel. The car offers ABS, EBD and dual front airbags as standard across all variants and is the cheapest car in the market to do the same. It packs a lot of features and comes in both petrol and diesel options with optional AMT.
