The new generation Maruti Suzuki Swift will make its India debut at the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo.
The Maruti Suzuki Swift is one of the most popular hatchbacks in the country and the Indian automaker is gearing up to introduce the new generation version very soon.
The all new Swift will be making its India debut at the 2018 #AutoExpo before being officially available at dealerships later in the year. A major departure over its predecessor, the new generation Maruti Suzuki Swift gets a lighter and stronger chassis, completely new design and comprehensive new feature list.
Maruti dealers around India have started taking bookings for the all new 2018 Swift officially. They’re now giving customers receipts for booking the new Swift, and Maruti’s inventory management system is also sending SMS confirmation to those who have booked the latest version of the hatchback. The booking amount is pegged at Rs. 11,000, and is fully refundable in case of cancellation.
At the outset, the new generation Maruti Suzuki Swift is based on the completely new HEARTECT platform. The same frame underpins the new generation Dzire as well, which is doing stupendously well on the sales front. The HEARTECT platform is about 10-15 per cent lighter, which is expected to give both power and fuel economy a healthy boost. It will also be more fun to drive thanks to the car’s lower centre of gravity, while the chassis is about 10 per cent stiffer. The axle tracks are wider as well, as the car aims to be more fun to drive than its predecessor.
It will retain the petrol and turbocharged diesel engines from the outgoing models, and even the 5 speed manual gearboxes. However, major new additions to the 2018 Swift will be AMT options on both the petrol and diesel models. This is similar to what Maruti offers on the Swift’s compact sedan sibling – the Dzire.
