To be built at the company’s plant in Munich, the new BMW i4 electric model is the third confirmed member in the electric line-up from BMW and will be placed with the i3 and the recently unveiled i8 roadster.
At the ongoing Geneva Motor Show, after showcasing the much awaited new BMW X4 to the world, BMW boss Harald Kruger had a surprise in store for the media present. The Chairman of the Board of Management at BMW announced that the Bavarian company will take the future of e-mobility forward with the BMW iVision Dynamics and present the all new BMW i4 electric model by 2025. To be built at the company’s plant in Munich, the new BMW i4 electric model is the third confirmed member in the electric line-up from BMW and will be placed with the i3 and the recently unveiled i8 roadster.
“By 2025, our global vehicle portfolio will include 25 fully- or part-electric models. At last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, we unveiled our take on the future of e-mobility with the BMW iVision Dynamics. This vehicle will become reality: we will build it in Munich – as the BMW i4,” Kruger added.
BMW’s iVision Dynamics uses the advanced electric system which has the ability to go from 0 to 100kmph in just 4 seconds, and has a top speed of 200kmph. The company also claims that the upcoming electric models under the new platform will have the ability to travel almost 600kms under a single charge. If we go by the digits, then the upcoming BMW i4 has the capability to take on the Tesla Model S head to head. Post the Model S facelift, the new model is capable of doing the 0-100 km/h run in 5.5 seconds with a total range of 376 km.
