Visually, the only noticeable difference between the petrol and the diesel variant of the 2018 Audi Q5 is that the former comes with the ’45 TFSI’ badge at the rear instead of the ’35 TDI’ seen on the latter. This means that the 2018 Audi Q5 petrol comes with the same design and styling, which includes Audi’s signature single-frame grill with chrome treatment that is flanked by a pair of sharp-looking LED headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lamps. In fact, the stock petrol variant of the SUV even gets the same five-spoke alloy wheels although, for those who want something different Audi does offers an array of customisation options.
Similarly, the cabin design and styling also remain unchanged featuring the same beige and black dual tone interior with wooden inlays for the dashboard and centre console, adding a premium touch to the interior. The centre stage on the dashboard is taken by an updated Audi MMI system with an 8.3-inch display featuring navigation. The system is not a touchscreen unit, but Audi has given rotary knob on the centre console which allows you to toggle between settings. The system is paired with Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system. Another highlight of the dashboard is the 12.3-inch virtual cockpit instrument cluster that shows a host of information including maps, music, contacts and real-time fuel consumption, distance to empty, average speed and more.
It also comes with smartphone integration, intelligent voice dialogue system, wireless charging for Qi-enabled phones, 10GB worth storage space for your music, navigation, three-zone climate control, cruise control, leather upholstery and power-adjustable front seats upholstered in leather. The SUV also offers rear view camera, park assist, hill descent assist, 8 airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, electromechanical parking brake, and more.
In India, the new petrol-powered 2018 Audi Q5 will lock horns with a host of petrol offerings in premium mid-size SUV space, which includes offerings like the Mercedes-Benz GLC and the BMW X3.
