The Ford Endeavour facelift, sold as the Everest in other markets, gets cosmetic and feature upgrades, while there’s an all-new turbo diesel engine on offer as well that replaces the existing options.
The 2018 Ford Endeavour (Everest in global markets) facelift made its debut earlier this year and the model has now been launched in Thailand, the first market to get the updated SUV. Prices for the new Ford Endeavour start at 12.99 lakh Baht (around ₹ 26.78 lakh). The Endeavour facelift receives a host of cosmetic and feature upgrades over its predecessor, while there’s new equipment onboard as well along with a new engine option for the Thai market. The new engine option is the 2.0-litre EcoBlue four-cylinder diesel engine that replaces the current 2.2-litre and 3.2-litre TDCi engines on the Endeavour.
While the engine line-up has been revised, there are cosmetic upgrades as well to the 2018 Ford Endeavour facelift including the new triple-slat grille, reworked bumper with lower air intake and new six-spoke alloy wheels. Changes are minimal at the rear with the revised bumper being one of them.
Inside, the updated Ford Endeavour comes with keyless entry, push-button start, foot-activated power tailgate and the introduction of Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system along with Forward Collision Warning (FCW). You also get tyre pressure monitoring system, handsfree powered tailgate and Ford SYNC 3 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity as part of the options list.
The new 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine on the updated Endeavour has been tuned for 177 bhp and 420 Nm of peak torque; while the twin-turbo diesel engine option develops 210 bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque. In addition, Ford has also replaced the 6-speed automatic transmission on the SUV with a 10-speed unit, borrowed from the Ford Ranger Raptor.
The new generation Ford Endeavour has been a highly appreciated model in India and a big leap from its predecessor with the number of features and comfort options on offer. The updated model is only expected to add to the popularity of the full size SUV amidst competition from the Toyota Fortuner, Isuzu MU-X and the likes. It needs to be seen though if the SUV will come to India with the new engine option when it arrives towards the end of this year or in 2019. Meanwhile, Ford India is working to introduce the facelifted Figo and Aspire models in the country. Both cars will be launched in the following months with cosmetic upgrades, new engines and more features.
